With around 138 days left until the launch of GTA 6, players are getting more creative by the day trying to find a way to get the game for as low as possible. The latest example demonstrates just how desperate players are to get their hands on the product before its official release.
Just 2 Dollars and Some Change For the Standard Edition
The Reddit user known as tangyredapple posted on the site's r/GTA6 board that they had forgotten about the cash-back rewards they had accumulated on their Best Buy card with the purchase of a PS5 Pro a few months earlier. On the day that pre-orders opened, they were able to utilise the certificates, along with a 10% discount coupon, to get the standard edition of GTA 6 for next to nothing.
"I checked my account today when the pre-orders went live, stacked my reward certificates with a 10% off coupon, and walked away paying less than three bucks for the game," they wrote. "Just a heads up to check your Best Buy reward points or other cash back! If you bought a console recently to prepare for the game, you might basically have this paid for already."
Some Players Had Even More Points Saved Up
This is not the first time we've heard of someone trying to use their Best Buy points for the purchase of GTA 6, as last month some players had successfully utilised Microsoft Rewards points to pay for the game in full. One enthusiastic player even managed to collect 98,000 points due to Rockstar's constant delays, meaning they had already paid for almost a third of the game.
The lesson here is simple — if you've recently purchased a console along with a large-screen TV or a gaming monitor, you should check your credit card or store account for any cash-back rewards. There's a good chance you'll find enough points to significantly reduce the cost of GTA 6.
Upgrades Are Available Later on
It's worth noting that the standard edition is the only pre-order option available. However, players can later purchase an upgrade to the Ultimate Edition at the cost of $20, which also provides additional content, including early access to several vehicles, weapons, and the Vintage Vice City Pack.
