The infamous Lapsus$ hacker Arion Kurtaj is once again in jail after being released from the hospital, where he had spent more than two years. He is suing the state again and trolling the internet with a burner phone, claiming Rockstar has the source code for GTA 6.
Arion Kurtaj, an 18-year-old Lapsus$ hacker, leaked 90 videos of GTA 6's early development in 2022. In 2023, he was placed under an indefinite hospital order because he was deemed too dangerous to be tried in court. Kurtaj spent over two years in the secure hospital, and it is unclear what prompted his recent release.
Burner phone posts
Since his release, the GTA 6 hacker has been posting on social media, using a burner Nokia phone to communicate with the outside world. In one of his recent posts, he described his time in the hospital as "amazing."
"I was able to access the community, go fishing, cook my own food, go shopping. 3 hours shop each week, 8 hours fishing a week," he wrote.
In his last post, Kurtaj called the charges against him "bullshit." The GTA 6 hacker also claimed that his friends still had access to the game's source code, but they would disclose the information when the game was released. Despite not having any evidence, Kurtaj continued trolling the media.
The original hack
In September 2022, Arion Kurtaj hacked Rockstar's internal Slack server from a cheap hotel room, using an Amazon Fire TV Stick, a phone, a keyboard, and a mouse. While on bail for hacking Nvidia, he leaked 90 development videos of GTA 6. The development footage captured gameplay footage of shooting, driving, police chases, and a Strip Club mission. The GTA 6 hacker uploaded the 50-minute-long videos in nine separate tweets.
Rockstar claimed the security breach cost them $5 million and thousands of man-hours. In addition, the GTA developer had to reveal the existence of GTA 6 after the hack.
It is unclear when exactly Arion Kurtaj was released from the hospital or when he will stand trial again. However, one thing is evident - the GTA 6 hacker is not going to let the authorities stop him from exposing the game industry.
