You don't have to look far for the facts on GTA 6. In the two trailers they have put out, Rockstar has been more forthcoming than most studios in a whole marketing cycle. We have compiled every detail from the source here, without any of the usual speculation or filler.
Trailer 1 (December 2023)
Rockstar made the first one available on December 4 to mark their 25th anniversary. It was a phenomenon: 46 million views in the opening 12 hours to set a new record for non-music videos on YouTube, and by the 24 hour mark it had 93 million, putting it at number three all time.
The takeaways were clear. Vice City is back, this time as a stand-in for modern Miami. The state of Leonida will be your playground, with its mix of swamps, beach towns and hard urban ground. And we have our leads: Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, the latter making history as the franchise's first playable woman.
Trailer 2 (May 2025)
With the second trailer, Rockstar zeroed in on the dynamic between Jason and Lucia. You could spot a nod to the 2022 hack, some visual changes and what might be light RPG mechanics. Most importantly, they put an end to the guesswork on when we can play it: November 19, 2026.
What Is Certain From Both
- ▸A Bonnie and Clyde style criminal duo in Jason and Lucia
- ▸The setting is Vice City and the surrounding state of Leonida, which also gives us named places like the Keys, Port Gellhorn and Grassrivers
- ▸The world is alive with it all — pedestrians recording crimes on their phones, and wildlife like gators and flamingos in all kinds of weather
- ▸Graphically it is already surpassing Red Dead Redemption 2, with ray-traced global illumination and water that looks the part
- ▸PS5 and Xbox Series X/S only — don't bother with last-gen
Pre-orders open June 25, 2026 and you can do a digital preload from the 12th, ahead of the November 19 release. We'll keep this updated the moment Rockstar drops anything new.
