GTA 6 PEGI 18 Rating Leaked, Showing Detailed Drug Use and Decapitation Gameplay

The European PEGI ratings board temporarily published a content summary for the upcoming GTA 6, revealing potentially the most detailed look at the game's systems yet. While an 18+ rating is expected for a Grand Theft Auto title, this particular content summary has confirmed the inclusion of very specific systems that had not been previously detailed by Rockstar Games.

Players Can Snort Cocaine From Their Hand in Real Time

As noted in the PEGI listing, substance use in Leonida is presented in a much more detailed manner than previous GTA games. Rockstar's usual approach to drugs in the series has been to show consumption during cutscenes, or allow the player to consume them for minor stat boosts in first-person. However, the PEGI content descriptor states that the player can consume drugs alongside supporting characters, and that the game features the ability to consume substances from your inventory at any point.

In particular, the PEGI descriptor lists cocaine as a consumable item that can be used by the player to snort directly from their character's hand. In both GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2, drugs and tonics only provided minor stat boosts to the character, or allowed for first-person use in missions. It is unclear how this mechanic will integrate into GTA 6, but the PEGI listing indicates that inventory items will directly impact the gameplay loop.

Detailed Decapitation and Gore Physics

Violence is depicted with a "high degree of realism," according to the PEGI content descriptor. Rockstar has previously been quite restrained with the graphicness of enemy death animations in GTA, only recently unveiling the sickening dismemberment effects in Red Dead Redemption 2. In GTA 5, shooting enemies in the head resulted in a basic blood splatter, but rarely did animations depict a realistic, gruesome death.

The listing specifies that weapons can cause truly grotesque damage to enemies, including detailed decapitation and dismemberment. Similarly, the PEGI listing indicates that while the game allows the player to harm animals, the effects are less intense than what would be seen on a human enemy.

Mature Nightlife and Club Interactivity

While GTA Online allows the player to visit clubs and engage in activities with NPCs, the PEGI listing indicates that players can also visit strip clubs and engage in physical conduct and dances with the club's performers, including payment.

Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive have not officially commented on the leak, and the PEGI listing was taken down shortly after resurfacing online. The ESRB has already given the game an "M for Mature" rating, and the European PEGI rating confirms that Rockstar is not holding back on the adult content in GTA 6.
